Today's Art

I had both kids again today and still managed to get an art project in.  That's always the goal for the morning when I'm home with Ryder.  With Logan here now, I feel like it's extra important to make sure I still get this special time in for Ry and I.  So today, we made a "bird feeder":

Time With My Boys (All 3!)

We ended up with an unanticipated visit to Fargo this weekend. But taking an unfortunate event and turning it into a positive: it allowed us to spend some extra family time together, and that was nice. I can never get enough of these boys' smiles. I even think Logan has started smiling. I haven't caught a "real" one on camera yet, but I spend a good chunk of each day annoying him with silly voices to try to catch another glimpse of it :)

Cuddled up at the pool

The whole time he was in the pool, Ryder was giggling "eee hehe...eee hehe...eee hehe!" I don't know if it was because he was cold or excited to be swimming on his own! Lol!

Blue Eyed Boy?

I remember being so sure that Ryder's eyes were going to stay blue...and now he has big brown eyes.  Yet here I am again speculating that this little boy is going to have some baby blues.  We won't know for months yet, but it really seems that way! What do you think?!

Sports Addict

At only 2 1/2, our Ryder is addicted to sports.  What should we do today?  What do you want to eat?  How old are you?  To all these questions, he has answered "Baseball!!"  It is always on his mind.

So, just about every day, we spend time pitching him a ball outside or in the living room.  He loves pretty much every other sport, too.  I need to work on a video because its so fun to watch the contact he can make with his golf clubs and baseball bat at this young age.  I'm excited to watch him develop these skills as he grows.

3 Weeks

Logan - you are 3 weeks old already.  I have totally enjoyed all our snuggle time so far.  You slept most of your first two weeks of life, but this past week you have taken more of a long nap in the morning and a shorter nap in the afternoon - with lots of wakeful time in between.  I love to see your big eyes.  At this point, they look like they're going to be blue.  Your brother also loves to see you awake and announces it to everyone: "My broder's up! His eyes are open!"  You also like to watch the toys above you on your playmat and even seem to try to grab them.  I feel like you're growing so fast (you're already growing out of some newborn clothes) - I keep trying to take as many pictures as I can to savor you just as you are right now!

I also love how you sleep! So relaxed!

Things Kids Say...

This weekend, Ryder ran into the bathroom saying: "Mama, I wanna measure my feet!"

I couldn't help but laugh at his cuteness and grab a picture.
As of this week, Ryder's "feet measure" 29 lbs :)

2 Weeks

Today, Logan is 2 weeks old.  His stats at his appointment were: 8lbs 15oz and 21in long.  He still sleeps most of the time but is increasing his wakeful time each day.  Today was also my first day home with both boys by myself.  It actually went much better than expected.  We were able to do art, go for a walk and all took an afternoon nap at the same time!  The most challenging part is that I can't lift Ryder for 6 weeks.

Art: painting and puzzle-making

So in love with his little bro :)

Sweet Dreams

Someday soon, we will sit and read together in this chair.  But today, it's for capturing sweet dreams...

1 Week

Logan was born one week ago today.  This first week has been filled with lots of visitors at the hospital, special outings with mom and dad, adjusting to being parents of two, and falling in love with our new little boy.

At his first doctor appt yesterday, he weighed 8lbs 9oz and was 20in long.
He opens his eyes for about 15-30 minutes a day so far and sleeps the rest of the time!

Visting with Grandma D in the hospital.  I love that he has this subtle little grin on his face!  Her bubbly personality is reaching him already :)

Getting ready to go home on day 4 at the hospital

His going home outfit was one Great Grandpa Anderson gave to Ryder.  But I bet he'd love that Logan is wearing it, too :)

On Wednesday, Shawn, Logan and I had a "date" at Sea Salt near the Minnehaha Falls.  We had fish tacos out on the patio in the sunshine - it was wonderful!  Logan enjoyed sleeping to the sound of the waterfall :)

On Thursday, the three of us went to Stillwater.  Here's Logan chillin at the Dock Cafe.

Once the sun came out, we enjoyed the beautiful weather out on the patio at Reve.

I feel so lucky to have such an amazing litte family and love moments like this when I can sit back and just savor them :)

Flashback

Shawn and I have been saying that having Logan around feels like we have stepped back in time and are having our first all over again.  Especially with Ryder in daycare this week.  I think part of it has to do with the fact that these boys look so much alike!!  Here's a pic of Ryder at 2 weeks and Logan at 4 days old.  Can you tell who's who??

Brotherly Love

Our biggest hope for these two is that they will grow up as buddies.  So far, this is a success - Ryder never wants to be more than inches from his baby brother!
