Logan, you are [just over] 21 months. I looked back at some of the things we were doing with Ryder at this age and it reminds me of your uniqueness! The main difference is that you are so active!! You are not interested in sitting still for puzzles, cartoons / movies, coloring, eating, having your haircut...really not for anything. You sit breifly to eat, never really eating too much - you seem to shovel the food in to get back to playing. We used to be able to entertain Ryder at restaurants with snacks, legos, and little activities. But you just want to run! Everywhere we go, I need to find a place to let you do this or you will just spend your efforts focused on squirming out of my arms - lol!
You love to laugh and explore and while you love being near mama when you aren't feeling good or are tired, most of the time, you want to be on your own exploring and climbing!
Ryder was not a climber and stayed in his crib until we moved him to a bed sometime after turning two. You climbed out at 20 months (and earlier...18 months? at daycare's pack n play). My current trick is to put a sleep sack on backwards so you can't get your leg up on the rail.
We put away the tall kitchen chairs last summer when you started pushing them around to climb on top of the counters. Recently, you started climbing onto the countertops without a chair!! You step on a knob or drawer edge and pop yourself up in moments. You do the same in the bathrooms. While daddy took 2 minutes to transfer the laundry last week, you ran upstairs, climbed onto the bathroom counter and were drinking from the faucet!
Empty of course...but look at that smirk! You just love mischief!
You are starting to initiate play with your brother, asking him to push you in a car, kick a ball with you or play catch. You two love each other and play well most of the time.

You are getting better and better at communicating with your words and hardly use your baby signing anymore. Sometime in January, you learned the 'k' sound - so it's fun to hear you say 'milk' and 'nuk' when you used to just say "mil" and "nu" for those things. While you use your devloped words to communicate, you seem to use them more with purpose rather than just to excercise your vocal chords (in contrast, Ryder used to tell all kinds of crazy stories before knowing many acutal words...just talking to talk...And he is a chatter-box to this day!)
We debated about getting rid of the nuk, but are holding off until you turn 2 to pull the plug :)
You are mimicking counting, but can't quite do it on your own yet (I think you can do 1-2-3).
You are such a waterbaby! You love the pool, waterslides, shower and bathtub. You have had baths almost daily this winter because you love them so much.
When you're not busy climbing out, you sleep really well in your crib. You love our bedtime routine and will go upstairs as soon as we say "Lets go brush your teeth." You love brushing your own teeth (with a follow-up by mom or dad) and love story time. You have started reading along a little bit and enjoy stories about trucks / cars. (You also like to sit in your chair and read on your own from time to time.) You sleep from 7pm-6 or 6:30am, sometimes 7pm-7am.
We recently transitioned you to one 2-3 hour afternoon nap, but occassionaly, you still take a morning nap.
Logan, you sure keep us on our toes chasing you around and trying to keep you safe throughout your adventures, but you also make us laugh and smile with your silliness and cuddles. I'm excited to get you outside this summer to give you a little more freedom :)
