Florida | Part 2

One thing I love about this destination is that we get to spend so much time playing with the kids and just hanging at the beach. We know our way around, know a bunch of good restaurants and typically don’t have anything on our must-see or must-do list.

All of the beaches were empty, making it very Covid-friendly. Most of the restaurants were as well.

Clearwater beach:

Our arrival lunch at Frenchy’s Rockaway Cafe:

Few more swimming photos:

Boys logged on to distance learning school a couple times:

We caught the sunset each night:

Dinner our first night at Jimmy Iguana. It was 55 degrees and the waitstaff was shocked we insisted on sitting outside. Eventually we moved under the open tent with heat lamps to listen to the live music. The crowd consisted of just us and one other couple.

We had dinner a couple times at Caddy’s on the Beach. The sunsets are so amazing amazing here.

One of the new things we did on this trip was play mini golf!

I was hoping Brecken would just pay attention for 18 holes. But not only did he pay attention, he got two hole-in-ones!

And they served cocktails, with cup holders at each hole!

Can’t wait to do this again in the summer at home.

Beach hangs at our hotel:

Dinner at Crabby Bills:

Morning walk with Logan:

Lunch at John’s Pass:

We saw a bunch of dolphins swimming by!

St. Pete Beach:

Overall, travel felt very safe. It’s a little sad how empty the transit hubs are. Can’t wait to see them bustling with activity and adventure when it’s safe again.

While our family spends a lot of time together these days, it is mostly while Shawn and I are working or trying to get other things done. So it was nice to take a break and spend quality time with the boys for the week.

Florida - Part 1

We arrived in Florida on Tuesday and have been loving this time away.

It was a big deal to decide to make the trip with the Covid situation in Minnesota. Thankfully, the situation in Florida is better and we intend to spend the whole time outside.

It was also very needed with the crazy year everyone has had.

Unlike other trips, one of our favorite things has been just hanging out at the hotel.

Swimming...

Playing giant chess and checkers...

Running on the beach...

Building forts in our room...

Playing bags...

Playing lots of tennis and pickle ball...

And watching Christmas movies each night after dark...

So good to get away with these guys.
