5 Months

Logan is still such a happy baby.  We've started giving him solid food, though not too regularly.  He's had bananas and cereal and loves them both.  He's still drinking 4oz bottles / breastmilk every 3 hours and still not sleeping through the night.  We're working on it that.  He is very alert and aware of what we're doing and smiles at everything Ryder says and does!

Logan is also a roller, he rolls and rolls and rolls.  He's just starting to enjoy time on his tummy, but for a while, he'd roll over and cry to be flipped to his back.  We had a [sleepless] night where we'd turn him to his back, leave him quiet in his crib, go back to our bed and as soon as we closed our eyes we'd hear him cry again...he was stuck on his tummy.  That happened repeatedly!  Silly kiddo!  He's still not very good at rolling from his tummy to his back, but we're very thankful he's not rolling to his tummy as much in the crib!

I have taken an "offical" 5 month photo, so I'll post that shortly...

Fat Tire 2012

I'm a little dissapointed in the lack of pictures I took during Shawn's 40 mile mountain bike race this year, but...I'm pretty proud to say we saw Shawn at all the usual spots and I handled the 3 1/2 hours of watching / feeding / changing the kids along the race course pretty well :)  I ended up taking a few shots with the iPod touch because it easily fit in my hand and pocket with Logan in the tummy carrier.

At the start

Cheering dad on at the beginning of the race (through Hayward)

So in love with his little bro

Saw dad at "OO" (almost halfway) - he was doin great!!

Waiting at the finish line.  Ry had so much fun playing with the babies...he didn't want me to take a pic though...

Congrats on a great finish Dad!  We loved watching you race!

Logan enjoyed swimming in the warm hotel pool

Things Kids Say...

We need a chalkboard in our living room to write down all the awesome things Ryder says and just how he says them.

Today's quote:
"Its nice to be home....With our family."
"Daddy, I missed you when you were in California."

We had just returned from Autumn's birthday party and Shawn just got back from a week long work trip (Ry said Cali, but it was Texas). Ryder's obviously happy to have things back to normal.

Yesterday:
"Logan, can you say "Nana Bumpa"?  Can you say "Grandpa Bob?"  He went through our whole family list.  And when Logan would coo in response, Ry would say "That's right. Good job Logan!"
Photo of Ryder teaching Logan everyone's name in our family :)

Logan's First Food

This morning we gave Logan his first solid food!  And he loved it!  He didn't giggle or smile, but he did flap his arms with excitement indicating he wanted more after each bite :)  He ate a fairly good sized portion of baby cereal.  (We intended for his first food to be sweet potatoes, but we enjoyed them in the form of sweet potato fries last night - sorry Logan!)  He also followed up this first with another: first time drinking water from a sippy cup.  He also loved that.  I don't know if he liked the cold water, the cup or will just frantically put anything in his mouth.  In general, it was a good first experience for him :)

He looks so big, doesn't he?!

4 Months

I'm a little late, but here's Logan's 4 month photo (actually taken at 4 months).

Special things about this age: He is sooo smiley! He giggles. He's ticklish! He chews on his toes! Doc says he's very flexible and asked if anyone in the family was double-jointed.  He rolls over from back to tummy and tummy to back. Not very often, but he can do it.  He reaches and squirms for toys he wants.  He loves the johnny jumper, exersaucer and playmat. He drinks three 4oz bottles at daycare. He typically gets up once between 7pm and 7am to nurse. His eyes are still soo blue! He is mellow!  I feel like I need a Uhaul to go anywhere with the kids - diapers, wipes, snacks for the kids, snacks for me, water for everyone, change of clothes, burp cloths, nursing cover, pump - whew!

Logan's 4 month stats: 26" long (75-85%), 15lbs 2.8oz (25-50%), 42.4cm head (75%)

I feel like Logan's growing faster than, Ry, so I looked up Ryder's stats at 4mos:
26 1/4" long (75-90%), 15lbs 14 oz (50-75%), 43.7cm head (75-90%).  So even though Logan was bigger at birth (weight-wise), he's a little smaller than Ry was at this age.

They Say...

They say a picture's worth a thousand words...but for a number of reasons, I missed this great picture.  So here are my thousand words describing it (for our family journal)...

Logan woke up to nurse around 5:15 this morning...shortly after, I had two little boys in my bed.  In a desperate attempt to get a few more minutes of sleep, I pulled out the iPad and let Ryder have free rein.  When I opened my eyes a moment later, Ryder had one arm snuggled around Logan and the other propping the iPad up so they could both see it.  With such love, he whispered to his little brother...."Do you like this song?  Can you see it?"...He was playing children's music for the two of them.  So so sweet.  I was so tempted to bolt to the living room, grab my manual cam, add some dim light and capture the moment.  But I knew that would ruin it and I'd never make it back in time.  Instead, I watched and savored the special relationship developing between our two little boys.  Made being up so early a little bit easier :)
