Steady Stander

In addition to learning how to crawl, Logan has also developed a love for walking along furniture and free standing. He seems to be gaining more mobility and balance by the day!

Surfing in the Snow

Ha! I got this photo as a text message today from daycare:

Ryder was "surfing" down the sledding hill today. When he got home, he was so excited to tell both of us about it. But then continued saying, "I wish I could put my hand in the snow and do turns [while 'snow surfing']" Think he's watched too much sports footage for a three year old! Charlie told us he had his arms out with great balance and just had a blast outside today :)

On The Move

Logan's crawling on all fours!! Took his first "steps" Thursday night and has been crawling more and more every day since.

Ski Day

Today was Ryder's second time out skiing (other time was last winter). He went with dad to Elm Creek ski area while Logan and I looked at a house with my mom. When asked what his favorite part about skiing was, Ryder responded "Doing the pizza crust (keeping his tips together). And having fun on the bunny hill." :)

Logan: 8 Months

Our little Logan is now 8 months!  I feel like he's made some big changes in the past few weeks.  Here are a few milestones:

- Increasingly mobile.  He speed scoots around the house.  He moves his arms in a crawling motion and pushes off the ground with his feet or scoots his legs behind him.
- He has discovered standing.  He can pull himself to a standing position and just loves it! He'll giggle and giggle as he holds onto the couch - so excited to see the world from a new perspective.  Most often, he does not want to sit to play, he wants to pull himself up or hold your hands so he can play while standing. He can also go from "crawling" to sitting.
- He loves to walk while holding our hands.  He even tries to let go thinking he can do it alone!
- He has started clapping, waving hi, and possibly signing "more" and "all done."
- His favorite word / sound is "dada." It has also sounded like he's said "mom" and "hi", but I'm sure these are coincidences.
- He doesn't fall over when sitting anymore.
- He had his first ear infection earlier in Dec, but now is his happy self again.  Smiling whenever we smile at him...or when we just look at him :)
- We started brushing his two bottom teeth.  The two top teeth are visible, but haven't broken all the way through.
- He still has super blue eyes.
- He has been found standing and sitting in his crib.
- We dropped our late night feeding!  So now I nurse at 6am, noon, 3ish, 5:30ish and 8pm.  We are also doing solid foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner with multiple food groups at each feeding. 
- Bedtime is by 8pm and as of right now, both boys go down easy.  Logan does not sit still for books any longer though.  He needs to be grabbing, chewing, crawling...He still naps at 9am and 1pm (and sometimes additional naps as needed).
- He experienced his first Christmas!  The wrapping paper was by far the most exciting part for him :)
- With the recent standing skill, we (Shawn) lowered the crib tonight.

Elf on the Shelf

This year, Santa sent a little scout elf to our house to keep an eye on the boys and make sure they were earning a spot on Santa's "nice" list (thanks "Santa"!) We read the Elf on the Shelf book and Ryder chose to name his elf "Flip".   

Flip had a fun December at our house zip lining on the art cable, bungee jumping from the chandelier, climbing the Christmas tree and making silly faces on our photos.  Ryder thought he was pretty entertaining and had fun searching for him each morning.  After Christmas, he flew back to the North Pole.  We look forward to seeing you again next year, Flip!
