Day 1: Minneapolis to St Gallen

Day 1 started with a tough good-bye to the boys. We both left Andover a little misty-eyed, but the kids were happy with Nana & Bumpa and we know they're in good hands. We have done so much traveling with the kids, it's hard to leave them behind. But it will be amazing for Shawn and I to share this adventure together :)

Traveling has gone smooth...we enjoyed minimal carry-ons (as opposed to strollers, carseats, diaper bags, & toys!) the complimentary dinner, bottomless glasses of wine, breakfast and free entertainment on the intercontinental flight (and noise-canceling headphones! Thx Christy!) What a treat. 8 hours flew by.

We had a layover in Amsterdam and caught a beautiful sunrise...which was sort of odd since I hadn't slept a wink yet!

We both slept the entire 90 minute flight to Zurich. The Zurich airport was top notch. Even the jetways were like fancy glass and steel skyways.

Shawn did a great job driving our six speed manual, diesel rental car from Zurich to St Gallen. This is when reality set in...all the signs are foreign, speed limits are in kilometers & we're still trying to figure out which of the country's four national languages people are speaking! The staff at the restaurants we went to spoke little to no English. But our bellies are full and we're resting up in our comfy hotel for a big day tomorrow!

P.S. The coffee and expresso are amazing here!!

Thanks so much for sharing! Love hearing how things are going and seeing the pics! Am so excited for this wonderful adventure for you two!

We're loving the time with Ry and Logan, too! =) Dawn came over and made birthday dinner for Matt and when we asked Ryder what his favorite part was---the chicken with cornflakes breading, brown rice mushroom casserole, or sweet potatoes, he said, "All of it!!" He had two helpings of the chicken and big helpings of the others and ate every last bit of it! He excitedly told us all sorts of stories, and he also enjoyed his time with the Wii exercise. Logan showed off his big toothy smile and turbo crawling for Dawn.

Love you! xoxoxo
