Friday Fun With Grandpa!

I am way behind on my blogging - these pictures are from two Fridays ago!  We met Grandpa Bob at the Edina indoor playground and had so much fun together :)  It was nice to spend the time with my dad...and nice that he had more energy than me to keep up with this busy toddler!

We played in the big open gym...

...and in the "Eagles Nest" tunnel area

A great way to burn some energy during the chilly MN winter.

29 Weeks

29 weeks - at beautiful Lake Tahoe :)

My entrance to 29 weeks was an eventful one!  Shawn left for a work trip last Monday morning, so naturally, that's when things got a little crazy.  Pretty mellow contractions hit that morning, but by lunchtime, I was counting the short intervals between them and debating at what point to call the doctor.  It was uncomfortable to walk and to breathe.

I finally called the clinic around 4:30 and they said they could get me in for a 7:30 appt (if I could wait that long).  Thankfully, things settled down on my way home from work and Ryder and I went to the appt together.  Turns out that I was now 50% effaced (not typ at 28 wks), so they sent me directly to Labor & Delivery to make sure I wasn't still having contractions and just not feeling it.

Laura picked up Ry from L&D (huge thank you!!) and I spent a few hours listening to the whooshing of the baby's heartbeat as they watched for contractions...keeping Shawn updated over the phone, 2000 miles away.

Around 11pm, I was able to go home.  What a whirlwind of a day!!  With an appointment Weds morning to make sure I was okay to travel, I was able to fly out Wednesday evening as planned (whew!).

So as of now, our c-section is scheduled for Friday, April 27th.  Lets hope baby stays content until then because I have a big to-do list for the next 9 1/2 weeks!!

Bedtime Shenanigans

Thursday night, we put Ry to bed as usual - jammies, teeth, 3 books.  After storytime, he asked daddy to shut the door and turn off the light.  Weird - we usually have to wait till he's asleep to do that.

We didn't hear a peep after that, so assumed he was out cold. We went to go get ready for bed ourselves an hour or two later and out walks Ryder from his room - calm, as if nothing unusual is going on. He had his hat on (which was on a peg ABOVE his changing table), it was sideways & covering his eyes, he had taken his jammies completely off (never done that before), and his diaper was  clearly tinkered with. In his room, his changing table had a big wet spot like he peed on it?? With his diaper on?? No idea.  He was just like "Hi mom, hi dad" and walked out into the livingroom to go play! What?! Shawn and I were so confused! It was so hard to hide our laughter! I had to pretend cough to cover my giggles or he'd think he was funny & try this act again.

And of course, I reached for my camera as fast as I could!

Silly toddler...

Baby Update: 27 Weeks

Woohoo!  Here we are at the beginning of the 3rd trimester already!!  I'm still feeling comfortable and not too big or too tired.  I am savoring every kick and roll since that's the best part about pregnancy :)

On Wednesday, we had another (our last) ultrasound.  Baby looked perfectly healthy.  The cysts that they had seen early on have resolved themselves, just as the doctors expected.  No need for futher follow up now or after the baby is born :)  They were also able to tell that our little guy is 2 lbs 6 oz already!  This puts him in the 62nd percentile for size - growing nice and strong :)  I'd say we're 98% sure on the name at this point (first and middle!) and are having fun using it around the house...but we're waiting to announce it until the baby's birth.  Ryder still thinks we should name him "George" or "Monkey" (after Curious George).

Nursery Update:  I made the first big step and ordered the fabric for our nursery last weekend!  It just arrived on Thursday and I absolutely love it!  It was designed by a former co-worker, Andrea Roman - she is so talented!!

I also learned how to use my new sewing machine on Friday!  I created my very first project since sewing with my aunt many many years ago.  I love how it turned out.  Ryder was boycotting nap time, but he watched very patiently and intently during the 20 minutes it took to start and finish this project (he kept calling it my "so-ta machine" - like "minnesota"):

The first of many projects on my list :)
