We had breakfast and coffee, then packed up the van and drove to Rusutsu for another day of riding.
It has been snowing pretty much since we arrived. If it ever stops, it only takes a few minutes for Mother Nature to shake up the snow globe again :)
We got to the resort right as it opened and took laps on the gondola, enjoying the fresh snow along the sides of the trail and in the widely spaced white birch trees.
The run just had a few fresh inches due to grooming, but the trees must have had 2’ of powder. Exactly what we had been craving!
There was also a weird carnie / Vegas vibe here. At the main base, there was a snow covered amusement park. Inside the main ‘chalet’ there was a Vegas-like mall.
After a solid day of riding one amazing run after another, we soaked our tired muscles at the Makkari Onsen. Martina and I were in the women’s bath while the guys went to the men’s. From the rustic outdoor pool, you could see the Yotei volcano. Pretty amazing. I wish you could take your camera to the onsens - but I suppose if you can’t even bring a swimsuit, cameras are out of the question.

Our next stop was Niseko Brewing. A couple IPAs with a view of Niseko United lit up for night skiing.
For dinner, we went to an Indian restaurant in Niseko called The Taj Mahal. Might have been my first Indian food. It was so good.
Another amazing day in the books.
